What is your story? This is a question that has repeated itself over and over in my mind since the beginning ideas of my business. Tell the people who you are. Tell them why you do what you do. Tell them your story! Simple enough, except it’s not. There are so many dips and curves, beginnings and endings, false starts, and unintended moments that wrap themselves around and through me, making me wonderfully complex. But this is how we all are. We all have a story to tell, and yet it’s not as easy as saying “Well, it goes like this…” because we are parts of ourselves, parts of our experiences, parts of our parents and the generations before.
So, I will start like this…
Hi! I’m Anna! I am a maker.
I love to take a single strand of yarn, a flat piece of fabric, or even a lumpy bumpy potato and make something wonderful out of it. The story of being a maker begins in some of my earliest memories, but it really became a calling after I moved to Sicily, Italy with my family.
With a belly full of Pasta alla Norma and a head reaping the benefits of Cappuccino (there is a possibility some pastries, vino, and pizza were also involved),
I had a dream, chased it down, and began bb&j! Inspired by children’s books, I create handmade heirloom dolls.
Buckled down with grit and determination, I’m figuring out this world of running a small business and loving life along the way!
Life is messy and wonderful. Business is super confusing and extremely rewarding. Making is a mind rampant with ideas and the glorious ability to give an idea life. Come along with me! Let’s enjoy this life together!
