Do you know a little one about to be born? Graduating from kindergarten or perhaps beginning school for the first time? Do you have a big move approaching? A gift can be given at any time, but a special occasion can make that gift a cherished item remembered for years. Three of the books included in my Classic book doll collection are perfect for the big moments in a little’s life.
First is the Dr. Seuss classic Oh The Places You’ll Go
“Congratulations! Today is your day. You’re off to Great Places! You’re off and away!” Life is big and sometimes scary. There are challenges, uncertainty, and things don’t always go your way.
“I’m sorry to say but, sadly, it’s true that Bang-ups and Hang-ups can happen to you.”
I love how this book encourages us along, facing the problems, continue walking through, and reveals the good moments in life as well!
“KID, YOU’LL MOVE MOUNTAINS…you’re off to Great Places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting. So… get on your way!
The ideas that surround this book are abundant! Have all your child’s teachers sign the same book through all of their school years, have a party!, printables galore, and the list goes on!

It is certainly possible you have never heard of this second book. I found it after my daughter was born and it made me all sappy! Keeping with the sappy theme, I actually wrote a letter and a little prayer to my sweet daughter inside the cover.
An emotional story of a mother and the dreams she has for her growing daughter…
“Sometimes, when you sleep, I watch you dream, and I dream too…”
When I had children, I realized that the dreams I had for them were much bigger and more vibrant than I ever thought to dream for myself.
“Someday your eyes will be filled with a joy so deep that they shine. Someday you will run so fast and far your heart will feel like fire… Someday you will look at this house and wonder how something that feels so big can look so small… Someday, a long time from now, your own hair will glow silver in the sun. And when that day comes…”
Finally, I would like to introduce you to Maple written by Lori Nichols.
Maple is a sweet story of a girl named Maple who “when she was still a whisper, her parents planted a tiny tree in her honor!” Maple and her tree grow, the seasons change, and “on some days, when the wind was just right, Maple would simply lie under her tree, and it’s leaves would dance just for her.” Then Maple becomes a big sister. She does her best to make the new baby happy, but when the baby was noisy they went outside… “And something magical happened…”
